Materials: This hat is comprised of super light weight cotton-like acrylic fabric. The outer layer of the inserts is composed of an extremely strong polycarbonate plastic, the same material used to make bullet-proof glass. The inner layers are composed of neoprene rubber, the same skin-friendly material used in making wet suits. The inner layer of neoprene rubber has a series of air chambers. These air chambers help cushion the impact, and help spread the force of the impact over the entire insert.
Cleaning: Machine wash, air dry, or low dry. Take the inserts out prior to washing.

The Crasche® Figure Skating Middie is designed to help protect skaters in the event of a fall.The Middie protective elements are made up of an outer layer of strong polycarbonate plastic, and an inner layer of skin friendly neoprene rubber. The protective element is 2.25 inches high, and the Middie has a soft cotton terry layer next to your the skin. Remove the protective elements before washing. An additional neoprene element is added to the rear of the hat to help keep it in place.
Note: The two rear protective elements are 3.5 inches high. This is to help protect the back of a skaters head in the event of a fall.
NOTE: THE MIDDIE MUST BE WORN WITH THE TWO REAR PROTECTIVE ELEMENTS POINTED UP TOWARD THE TOP OF THE HEAD.

Size Small - 18" to 21" circumference
Size Medium - 21" to 22.2" circumference
Size Large - 22.2" to 23"+ circumference
Proper fit is very important with the Crasche Middie.
To determine your head (hat) size, measure your head as shown on the right, using a flexible tape measure, starting at the middle of your forehead. Measure circumference of head just above top of ears. Wrap tape gently around head making certain tape lies midway on top of your occipital bone (that little bump in the middle of the back of your head).
• For a head circumference of 21 inches and smaller, order the Small.
• For a head circumference from 21 inches to 22.2 inches, order a Medium.
• For a head circumference above 22.2 inches, order an Large.
Note: For a tighter fit, remove the two protective inserts that are next to the two larger rear inserts. Then re-insert them with the wide side up. 
This will reduce the size by over one inch. For Medium, start with a rear protective element.

The protective elements are 3.5 inches high, and do not cover the top of the head. The top of the head is open, to keep the players comfortable.

Our independent lab tests show the Middie actually reduces the impact to other players in head to head contact.
